Automated warehouse (Automatic Storage & Retrieval System, referred to as AS/RS), also known as high-rise shelf warehouse.
An automated three-dimensional warehouse refers to a warehouse that uses several layers, more than a dozen layers or even dozens of layers of shelves to store unit goods, and uses corresponding material handling equipment to store goods in and out of the warehouse. Because this kind of warehouse can make full use of space to store goods, it is often called "three-dimensional warehouse".
The emergence and development of three-dimensional warehouse is the result of the development of production and technology after the Second World War. In the early 1950 s, there was a three-dimensional warehouse using bridge stacking cranes in the United States. In the late 1950 s and early 1960 s, there was a three-dimensional warehouse of lane stacking cranes operated by drivers. In 1963, the United States took the lead in adopting computer control technology in elevated warehouses and established the first computer-controlled three-dimensional warehouse. Since then, automated warehouse has developed rapidly in the United States and Europe, and formed a specialized discipline. In the mid-1960s, Japan began to build three-dimensional warehouses, and the development speed is faster and faster, becoming one of the countries with the largest number of automated three-dimensional warehouses in the world.
It is not too late for China to start the development of three-dimensional warehouse and its material handling equipment. In 1963, it developed the first bridge stacking crane (Beijing Institute of Lifting and Transportation Machinery, Ministry of Machinery). In 1973, it began to develop China's first computer-controlled automated three-dimensional warehouse (15 meters high, responsible for lifting by the Ministry of Machinery). The warehouse was put into operation in 1980. So far, the number of newly-built automated three-dimensional warehouses in my country is about 100 each year. The three-dimensional warehouses have the characteristics of high space utilization, strong ability to enter and leave the warehouse, and the use of computers for control and management, which is conducive to the implementation of modern management by enterprises. It has become an indispensable storage technology for enterprise logistics and production management, and has received more and more attention from enterprises. Automated elevated warehouses have a wide range of applications and cover almost all industries. In China, the application of automated elevated warehouse industry mainly machinery, metallurgy, chemical industry, aerospace, electronics, medicine, food processing, tobacco, printing, distribution centers, airports, ports and so on.
Automated warehouse is an important part of the rapid development of modern logistics system. It has many advantages, such as saving land, reducing labor intensity, eliminating errors, improving the level of warehouse automation and management, improving the quality of management and operation personnel, reducing storage and transportation loss, effectively reducing the backlog of working capital, improving logistics efficiency and so on, with the factory-level computer management information system networking and production line closely linked to the automated warehouse is today's CIMS (computer integrated manufacturing system) and FMS (flexible manufacturing system), the essential key link.
Automated warehouse has a wide range of applications, mainly including the following aspects: manufacturing, pharmaceutical industry, e-commerce and logistics industry, food and beverage industry, tobacco industry, large retail enterprises, chemical industry, cold chain industry, aerospace industry, military field.
The automated three-dimensional warehouse designed and built by Beijing Jiuwei Technology solves the problems of tight storage area and low storage efficiency for customers. It uses advanced technology to realize the automatic access and allocation of goods, which greatly improves the space utilization and operation efficiency. Customers no longer worry about the lack of warehouse space, nor do they need to worry about the confusion of goods management. At the same time, its high accuracy and reliability ensure the safety and stability of the storage of goods, so that customers feel at ease.
